1797 Catalogue Raisonne De Rembrandt – Catalogue of Works by Rembrant, 1797 by Bartsch
Printed in Vienna in 1797 this is a French language two volume catalogue, rebound into one book, of the works of Rembrandt and others who imitated his style. Stated to be a New Edition, written by Adam Bartsch , a member of the Academy of Art of Vienna. Etchings by Adam Bartsch are reproduced in the book to illustrate examples of Rembrandts work and style, as well as fold out diagrams illustrating some of the technical aspects or technique of the Dutch Master. Volume one has 302 pages, volume two has 142 pages plus appendices and the fold out illustrations. No Date given for the professional rebinding, appearance suggests it is from the mid to late 20th century. Original work is printed on high rag content paper, foxing shows on original end papers and light – sporadic foxing seen throughout. New binding is Brown cloth over hardboards.
