Rare 1747 Map of Belgium by Edentibus Homannianis Heredib
$950 - $1,500
Well preserved color accented map of Catholic Belgium with Ten Provinces of Lower Germany made for an Atlas collection in 1747. The detailed map includes scale references in 8 different measurement systems, for reference across the region of potential use. The map is written in Latin, with some place names in French. Printed on high rag content heavy paper and reinforced at the centerfold for placement within an Atlas publication of the mid-18th century. The condition is remarkable for it’s age, with only a 4 in centerfold split and light wear to corners and edges. Color fade and light creases as expected with a map of this era. Measures 19 ¾ x 22 ¼ inches. A link to the Yale Rare Book and Manuscript Library below shows the map in context of the original atlas.
