"Miller, Hess and Company, Shoe Manufacturers, southeast corner of Main Street and South 7th, Akron, Lancaster County. Begun in the very early 1900s, the company erected this building about a decade later. Multiple additions over the years increased factory size substantially. The composite structure is now home to the corporate office of Ten Thousand Villages, a purveyor of hand crafted, fair trade items."
