The Pamela Rankin-Smith Photograph Collection

 

A Newly Discovered Signed Photograph Collection of 20th Century Celebrity Figures is being presented at Scott Daniel's Auction on March 13th, 2021

Pamela Rankin-Smith ( -2013), American Photographer. Member Friend of Poets, Playwrights, Editors, Essayists and Novelists association, Photographic Adminstrs., Inc., Actors Equity Association, American Society Media Photographers Ikebana International, Municipal Art Society, National Arts Club, Camera Club New York, Circle of Confusion, Society Scribes.

The collection is from a family member of the late photographer.  The photographer was published.  One of the books featured iconic figures from the 1960s through the 1980s.  The photos are of noted artists such as LeRoy Neiman, political figures including Indira Priyadarshini Gandhi, Jimmy Carter.  Fashion icons like Oleg Cassini. Science legends such as Jacques-Yves Cousteau.  Actors including Yul Brynner, Elizabeth Taylor.  

Each and every one is signed by the subject being photographed!

We are now in the process of cataloging and photographing this discovery. 

The auction is planned for March 2021. 

Sidney Poitier, the first Black man to be honored with an Academy Award for Best Actor (1963, Lilies of the Field), was the top box office star by 1967. That year, the actor, who had already won acclaim for Blackboard Jungle (1955) and The Defiant Ones (1958, nominated for Best Actor), appeared in three popular films: In the Heat of the Night, To Sir With Love and Guess Who's Coming to Dinner. On March 24, 2002, at the 74th annual Academy Awards, Poitier, who is also a Kennedy Center Awards honoree, was presented with an honorary Oscar for his groundbreaking work as an actor, director and producer.

Born Jacqueline Bouvier in 1929, Jackie married John F. Kennedy in 1953. The third-youngest first lady, she left behind no policy initiatives but set a high standard for style and grace in her person and in the White House, and with her tragic dignity after her husband's assassination. From 1968 until his death in 1975, she was married to Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis. From 1978 to 1994 she was an editor at Doubleday in New York.

Mikhail Nikolayevich Baryshnikov is a Soviet Latvian-born Russian-American dancer, choreographer, and actor. He was the preeminent male classical dancer of the 1970s and 1980s. He subsequently became a noted dance director.
